Miss Cheesecake is an Indian startup which appeared on episode 6 of Season 4 of Shark Tank India. They offer light, affordable and delicious cheesecakes. They gained over 1 Lakh followers on their Instagram just in 20 days. The founders sought an investment of ₹30 lakhs in exchange for 5% equity in their company valuing the business at ₹6 Crores.
Miss Cheesecake was started in May 2024 but the founders shared that they created a blueprint for this company about a year ago. The company creates the cream cheese for their cakes at home which helps reduce the overall cost of the product.
Miss Cheesecake has 6 flavours of cheesecake and Lotus Biscoff is their best-selling flavour. The company have sold over 25,000 cheesecakes in the past 4 months. The founder started selling the cakes through her friend’s shop on weekends and at exhibitions.
Miss Cheesecake’s Financials & Revenue during Shark Tank India:
Miss Cheesecake’s top three bestsellers are priced between ₹120-140. Their online store makes the majority of their revenue. They started on the online platform just last month. They made ₹8-₹8.5 Lakhs of revenue per month and online business is brining in around 10% of this.
The founder’s vision is to have a Miss Cheesecake store in every city. Their scaling strategy is to set up a central kitchen with a Hub-and-spoke model. The open small kiosks or stores of around 100 square feet. Cheesecakes will be dispatched form the central kitchen. It will be a Chef-less model and an employee can be trained in 10-15 days.
The company is raising an investment to open its central kitchen in Jaipur which will help its expansion in the Gurgaon & Delhi regions. Their gross margin is at 50% and their net margins are at 35%. They have around ₹10 Lakhs in the bank.
Miss Cheesecake Shark Tank India Negotiations & Funding:
Anupam couldn’t relate to the product so he decided to go out. Aman went out because he felt like the founders need another co-founder but not investors. Namita thought it was too small to invest so she went out as well.
Ritesh gave a first offer of ₹30 Lakhs for 7.5% equity, valuing the brand at ₹4 Crores. Kunal felt like the founders didn’t need investors therefore, he went out. The founders did not want to dilute more than 5%, so they did not make any deals. Ritesh still gave entrepreneurs to help them out if they needed anything in future.
