Shark Tank Pitch
Mehak and Chahek astounded the audience with their extraordinary capabilities during their demonstration, showcasing their ability to discern the identities and colors of random items placed inside a box. Gurnandan described their talent as a form of scientific magic. Remarkably, they were able to accurately identify the colors and materials of these items while blindfolded. The sharks even presented them with random items, and they successfully identified them, including a ₹500 rupee note, reading its serial number with precision.
Gurnandan termed their technique “Brain Optimization,” a method that has found application in Japan. When questioned about the advantages of learning this technique, Anupam inquired, and the girls highlighted its capacity to enhance concentration and improve academic performance. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, they had already trained over 5,000 participants in offline sessions. During the pandemic, they seamlessly transitioned to online training, reaching an astounding 11,000 individuals spanning seven countries. Notably, the Himachal Education Board had incorporated their technique into its curriculum as an elective for students from grades 9 to 12 before their appearance on Shark Tank. By this time, the Singh Family had amassed a revenue of ₹30 lakhs.
Shark Negotiations:
The sharks initiated discussions by inquiring about the revenue model. Singh responded that it operates on a franchise model with a 30% revenue-sharing arrangement. Aman expressed concerns about the lack of defensibility and the potential for replication, suggesting it could be taken to competitors like Byju’s. Ashneer questioned the substance behind the concept, deeming it a gimmick and opting out of the opportunity. Following Ashneer’s lead, Anupam also withdrew, citing inadequate defensibility in the online space.
Namita introduced an alternative perspective, proposing a focus on corporate training rather than education technology. While she acknowledged the potential for direct results, she ultimately deemed it uninvestable and withdrew from the deal. Vineeta opted out as well, citing a lack of clarity regarding the business itself.
