KIWI Kisan Window is a one-stop solution to experience the healthy and unique flavours of India. The startup appeared on Episode 5 of Shark Tank India Season 4. The company is focused on in-person experience and online sales which they are doing through Omni channels. The founder sought an investment of ₹50 lakhs for 1% equity in the company valuing the business at ₹50 Crores.
KIWI Kisan Window has 8 retail stores and a website, They have so far processed over 3 lakh orders. The company have plans to expand its footprint to 300 stores in the next five years. Their business is separated in two categories, one is value defined which introduces people to the brand and the second is volume-defined which brings in most of the revenue.
KIWI Kisan Window’s Financials & Revenue during Shark Tank India:
KIWI Kisan Window was established as a private corporation in 2017. Their products are divided into a wide range of categories like healthy essentials, which has 150 SKUs, healthy beverages, which has 50 SKUs & healthy snacks which has 50 SKUs as well.
KIWI Kisan Window makes 97% of their revenue through online channels. The company online started doing business offline in the last quarter hence it makes a very small percentage to total revenue. The company made a revenue of ₹5.06 Crores in FY23-24 and they did ₹4.3 Crores a year prior. As for FY24-25, They have already made a revenue of ₹4.5 Crores till October 2024 and the company is projecting to close the year with ₹10 Crore revenue.
KIWI Kisan Window raised its first investment in early 2024, where they raised ₹80 lakhs at ₹30 Crores valuation. Their EBITDA last year was at 5.3%. It was 4.3% a year prior. The founders shared that they are negative -2% for the EBITDA so far. The company launches a high-margin limited selection of their products through their website.
For unit economics, their biggest expense is their COGS which is at 50%, 22.5% goes to salaries, rentals take another 6.5%, marketing takes 3%, Logistics and electricity are 2% each, maintenance takes another 3% and after removing other expenses of 5.7%, they are left with EBITA of 5.3%.
Their average store size is 250 square feet. They pay on average ₹45,000 in rent per store and each store brings in a revenue of ₹9-10 Lakhs. Their store sales range from ₹5 lakhs in Mohali to ₹15 lakhs in Dehradun. 4 stores are company-owned owned and the rest are franchises. Payback for the store is 18-24 months.
KIWI Kisan Window Shark Tank India Negotiations & Funding:
Ritesh went out due to the low volume of the stores. Vineeta felt like the numbers were not adding up. Therefore, she went out as well. Aman offered ₹50 Lakhs for 2% + 2% royalties until he recoups ₹1 Crore back. Azhar asked if he could join Aman, which he accepted.
Kunal was very interested in this space so he gave two offers at the same valuation but without royalties. He was ready to put up ₹2.5 Crores for 10% equity or ₹1.25 Crores for 5% equity. Aman & Azhar also removed royalties from their deal.
The founders take a moment to think and then come back to counter offer Kunal with ₹2.5 Crores for 8.33% valuing the company at ₹30 Crores. The founders added that it is the same valuation they raised the money at in prior rounds as well. Kunal refused to budge but the founder accepted the initial deal. They shook hands on ₹25 Crore valuation.
