Rubbabu is an Indian toy manufacturing company that appeared on Shark Tank India Season 3 Episode 24. They have a factory set up in Delhi. The founders shared that their toys are made from natural foam rubber and are 100% biodegradable. They also sell their products worldwide. The company added that their toys are also beneficial for kids with ADHD and Autism. They are part of the SNAP category of toys, which stands for Special Needs Adaptable Products. Toys are all handcrafted. The founders sought an investment of ₹2 Crores for 5% of the company, valuing the business at ₹40 Crores.
Rubbabu’s founder shared that their products are comfort-based. They were primarily an export business, but the founders wanted to launch the brand in India as well, so that is what they were raising the capital for. Further, The pricing of the product will vary between ₹100-1000s. The company shared that due to the founder’s health issues, they had to shut down the business for a little while after 2014, and they restarted in 2021.
Rubbabu’s Revenue & Financials during Shark Tank India:
Rubbabu made revenue of ₹7 Lakhs in FY21-22. This was followed by ₹1.29 Crores in FY22-23. They have made ₹2.9 Crores in revenue for FY23-24 (till Nov) and expect to close the year around ₹4 Crores. 80% of the sales come from exports, and 20% from Indian markets. They are making around 13% profits this year. The founders want to scale the business to around ₹100 Crores and then sell it to an international toy company.
Rubbabu Shark Tank India Negotiations & Funding:
Namita was the first shark to go out due to not agreeing with the long-term plans of this company. Vineeta felt like the founder had self-obsession and was not open to feedback; therefore, she goes out of this deal as well. Aman shared the same sentiment; therefore, he also steps out of these negotiations. Ritesh felt like the upside was not big enough for him; therefore, he goes out as well.
Anupam liked the business, but he added that he wouldn’t be able to figure out a working relationship with the founders; therefore, he goes out of the negotiations as well. Rubbabu walked out of the tank without a deal.
